About Us

Maison Sun is an 8-seat chef’s counter tasting menu restaurant in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn.

Led by Chef Nancy Nguyen, whose background includes Eleven Madison Park, the restaurant brings together French technique and Vietnamese culinary tradition.

Guests dine around a stainless steel counter centered on a restored vintage Molteni stove, with the kitchen at the heart of the experience.

The tasting menu is $185 per guest.

Philosophy

Maison Sun begins with the oldest promise of the restaurant: to restore.

The word descends from the French restaurer: to renew, to make whole again. We hold that meaning close. Dining, at its most hopeful, is a return to appetite, memory, conversation — to the quiet intelligence of the senses and our forgotten appetite for wonder.

Our kitchen is shaped by Vietnamese memory, French technique, and the clarifying force of fire. Fish sauce, herbs, ferment, broth, shellfish, smoke, heat, are given structure through proportion, restraint, time.

Our style is not fusion as decoration. It is construction. Each course is arranged as a small architecture of flavor, where precision serves feeling and luxury returns to intimacy.

For one evening, the restaurant becomes a temporary house of relation. The guest is not only fed, but gathered into place, into memory, and the comfort of feeling restored.

Culinary Vision

Maison Sun was founded by Dr. Gasperi, who approaches cuisine through the lens of architecture: structured, intentional, and deeply collaborative. The restaurant brings refined French technique into conversation with bold regional Asian flavors, shaping a tasting menu where culture, imagination, and craft are carefully composed.

Dr. Gasperi holds a Ph.D. in German Literature and Philosophy. Before the global pandemic reshaped the world, he intended to pursue an academic career. After graduation, he redirected his intellectual discipline, research training, and sense of form toward the culinary world, becoming a restaurateur and sommelier.

Over the next five years, he conceived and led an underground fine dining series, hosting rotating guest chefs in secret Manhattan locations. Maison Sun brings that long apprenticeship into a permanent form: an intimate restaurant where technical excellence, narrative intent, and cultural resonance are expressed through food, wine, and hospitality.

Chef

Chef Nancy Nguyen brings a vibrant Vietnamese-American culinary background to Maison Sun, shaped by family traditions from Mỹ Tho in the Mekong Delta and years spent cooking in New York City’s most dynamic kitchens. She grew up around the deep aromas of her family’s phở restaurant, where she learned the foundations of broth-making, balance, and Vietnamese herb work long before entering professional kitchens.

Before joining Maison Sun, Nancy spent eight years running a successful catering company in Philadelphia, building a reputation for bold, clean flavors and meticulous execution. In New York, she cooked at a range of restaurants including Eleven Madison Park, absorbing the precision and discipline of a Michelin-level environment. She later founded Beaucoup NYC, earning recognition in the Michelin Guide for her contemporary interpretations of Vietnamese cuisine.

At Maison Sun, Nancy draws on her roots and training to shape the restaurant’s Vietnamese-French inspired tasting menu and signature approach to flavor and fire. Her cooking reflects a balance of soulfulness and refinement, thoughtful broths, precise seasoning, and a deep respect for ingredients.
